Tim Ritchie
In Conversation

To coincide with our exhibition for Sydney Fringe Festival (see below), Groovescooter is happy to announce Tim Ritchie In Conversation at Play Bar in Surry Hills. Tim Ritchie is something of a local legend. From his renowned gate crashing radio career debut on Sydney's Double J (when in 1976 after ringing the breakfast announcer to complain was challenged to come in and "do a better job" - which he then did for many years) to his much loved Radio National program Sound Quality and beyond, Tim Ritchie has been an ardent supporter of Australian music and independent artists. He was also one of the early champions of dance and electronic music in Australia both on-air and in clubs. You're invited to come along and hear Tim chatting at length to Groovescooter's Paris Pompor and also ask him your own question. Tim will be talking about his career, motivations, the inspirational people he has met and interviewed, and of course his more recent rise as a talented photographer. He will also take us back to a pre-Lockout Law Sydney of the '80s, when pre-dawns didn't find him on the streets taking photographs as they do these days, but rather stumbling out of now-defunct clubs following his nightly DJ sets. A recent portrait of Tim done for for the 2016 Archibald Prize by Sydney artist Adrian Elmer, will also be on display at this event. RSVP below to be in the audience.
