Out In The Night
Director/producer blair dorosh-walther’s multi award-winning documentary, OUT IN THE NIGHT tells the story of women facing the full-force of male violence and a media and legal system steeped in racism, homophobia and misogyny. Four of these late-teen/early twenties friends out in New York one night, went on to become known as The New Jersey 4.
Under the neon lights in a gay-friendly neighbourhood of New York City, a man violently and sexually threatened a group of young African-American lesbians as they walked home one hot August night in 2006. A fight began, captured by security cameras nearby. All the women were rounded up and charged. With the media quick to slap on the crass term ‘Gang of Killer Lesbians’, this doco gives voice to the women involved so they can share their accounts of what really happened. Out In The Night has won multiple awards and screened to sold out theatres around the world.
“Out in the Night is not a movie; it’s a movement” [The Bilerico Project]
“This impassioned social issue documentary serves as a strong indictment of tabloid journalism and a prejudicial legal system.” [Hollywood Reporter]
