“An intimate record of one of rock history’s defining moments”
[The Guardian]

“An excellent example of its genre, with Pennebaker capturing the excitement of what was a very special, emotion-charged occasion”
[Los Angeles Times]

On July 3, 1973 at London’s Hammersmith Apollo, DAVID BOWIE played one of his most legendary concerts. During the show, and ironically just before launching into the tune Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide, Bowie suprisingly announced that it would be “the last show that we’ll ever do”! Adoring, but devastated fans and some media, assumed Bowie was was retiring from music. We now know he was actually announcing the killing off of his famous alter-ego, Ziggy Stardust. Exactly 50 years on from that famous night, Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders from Mars returns to select cinemas around the world for one-night only screenings in a new fully restored and digitally remastered 4K / 5.1 Sound version. The film’s new cut features legendary guitarist Jeff Beck, whose performances were removed from previously screened versions. Come and celebrate this maverick music icon’s visionary talents with fellow Bowie fans cheering and singing along. As American film critic Nathan Rabin observes: “It’s not the same as being there [in 1973], obviously, but it’s the next best thing.”

For the first time ever, audiences can now see the full performance of this iconic 1973 concert, including previously removed scenes. It marks the closing of the “leper Messiah” chapter of Bowie’s career, so “historic” is an understatement. Featuring a great medley of Wild Eyed Boy From Freecloud/All The Young Dudes/Oh! You Pretty Things, alongside Lou Reed and Rolling Stones cover versions and classics like Changes, Space Oddity and Suffragette City, Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders from Mars is “indisputably one of the greatest concert films ever made” [Eye For Film].
